On Sunday Team Taj explored the capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur.
We saw Palace of Winds (Hawa Mahal), Pink City, Water Palace (view from shoreline), Amber Fort (really nice), Jantar Mantar and the City Palace.
Afterwards we went back to Delhi airport to fly to Pune.
After spraining my ankle on Wednesday I worked from the hotel the rest of the week and will not attend the weekend endeavour to an old hillside fort.
However, this gave me some time to post pictures and write this comment.
Last weekend we went to Mumbai. On saturday morning right after breakfast we set off to Pune Railway station. Nearby is also the Shivneri terminal where the famous Shivneri busses depart for Mumbai. We paid 320 rupees each and went on a fast trip (less than 4hrs) to the fourth largest city of the world.
After drop off at Dadar we drove the final 10km through the city to the Gate to India. Our destination was the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel nearby.
Other activities on Saturday:
Sauna, Steambath, Swimming pool.
On Sunday we went out for sightseeing
Mumbai Central Railway Station, Market, Bombay Store, Museum of Prince of Wales
Dennis photographs a kid on the rope:
Finally we did the tour at our hotel which was really great. It started at 17:00 and ended about one and a half hours later.
Then we went back to Dardar and took a bus (this time a less fancy private one) back to Pune.
Great weekend, many photographs and a really nice stay at one of the best hotels.
Some sightseeing today:
- Chaturshrungi Hindu Temple
- Pataleshwar Cave Temples
- OSHO Teerth Garden Koregaon Park
and afterwards a Burger in Hardrock Cafe Pune.
We had a tasty dinner at www.shishajazzcafe.in/ with live music by Cyrille and her friends:
Today first time at Pune’s M.G.Road, checked some shops and found the first supermarket which reminds me of German ones. It also had chocolate and many more things from home.
During breakfast a hotel employee approached me and presented a nice box saying “Happy Diwali”.
Yesterday we went to south Goa and saw quite some tourist attractions.
After a bumpy and wet (through river) ride with a Jeep in Mollem National Park we went to Dudhsagar waterfalls. I checked out the cold spring water – had a great waterfall shower.
Monkeys were everywhere. Some had red faces. The guide told me that these are the females. As some human females they use red stuff to beautify their faces.
After the waterfall swim we had a short and expensive ride with an elephant around the corner.
Betelnuts, Chilli, Coffee and many more plants were explained to us.
Churches and Temples
Checked a shiva temple on the way to the famous churches.
During the rides between locations we saw glimpses of a tyre company, Kingfisher beer and some ore mining areas. Unbelievably were the kilometer-long lines of ore trucks everywhere which smoked the air with thick diesel clouds. Just one little railroad track instead?
In the night we went to famous but quite remote Curlys bar and club near Anjuna.
Today we will fly back with Kingfisher red, an airline which shuts down soon.
Saturday is our beach day. Unable to do any demanding tasks we hit Baga beach and stayed there for food and drinks. Cheers!
We had our trip in a Sleeperbus to Goa, started about at 21hrs in the night and we arrived before 8 in the morning. Despite the fact that this was quite a long and shaky bus trip we were still able to walk. This was my first time in a sleeper bus and now I know what 2+1 means. Choosing a lower compartment was good. Pictures? Let’s go:
